The Best (and easiest) Way to Eat Avocados..

One of my earliest of memories of avocados is watching my Dad eat half an avo with a teaspoon.

Some of you may know that my Dad died when I was just 15. So my memories of him are few and far between, but this one has stuck.

He would cut it in half, poor in some oil and salt and pepper and scoop it out with a tea spoon until the skin was bare. This is actually still my favourite way to eat an avo to this day.

There is SO much you can do with avocados as you will see from other posts I share but I always come back to the old faithful – half an avocado with oil and salt and pepper and you just scoop it out with a spoon.

My kids love to eat it this way too. We did baby lead weaning so it was often one of the first things they would eat by themselves. And it’s the best thing to take out as you can just throw in a whole avo and a tea spoon and lunch or a mid morning snack is sorted. And – no waste! So you are saving the planet and your child!

I always feel like I am ticking one “nailing it as a parent” box if they are eating avocados.. My feeding job is done, they have eaten something healthy and I can retire.

It was actually Mum’s Mum, Gwen, who had the idea to grow avocados here at the farm but Dad always loved them. He loved eating them and sharing them with friends.

Do you love to eat your avo straight out of the skin? Give it a go if you haven’t tried it.
